Day 378 – 27 January 2019 – Darwin

The blog posts have slowed down because the busy life has caught us up for the moment. No complaints though as life in general is still really good.

We went back to Adelaide for Christmas and it was awesome to catch family and friends. It was also so nice to spend time with the grandkids. Christmas is about having young kids running around squealing with excitement and our boys didn’t let us down.

We stayed with Jem and Ry for short but fun time. These guys are about to embark on a new life direction and are moving interstate. Kris and I are really excited for them although it’s quite tough for them to arrange everything that’s involved in uprooting your life and planting somewhere new. But all in all, we felt welcome and appreciated being among family.

We then stayed with Sammer, Stepho and Franklin too. Again, nice to be welcomed and feel like we’re with family. Kris is still with the kiddy winks and I’m back in Darwin.

We just had Australia day and I spent the time with some local friends, doing – what else, having a beer at a Bar-B! I know the crew is down at Salt Creek this weekend camping down there and I always feel a hint of ‘missing out’ when we don’t go on a camping trip with the crew. Kris received an invite for that trip but she is away helping Jem and Ry as well as squeezing in a trip to the tennis.

Amongst the growing noise of scams and spam we received a message from Feedspot (http://www.feedspot.com/). I missed the first message because the email got ‘junked’. Anyway, Feedspot aims to group web places around topics and then rates them. As a user, you can then find your favourite topics and a bunch of content ‘related and rated’. It also provides a user with simple way of keeping in touch with content that you like by sending you a message when something new has been posted.

Anuj from Feedspot contacted us to let us know that our YouTube channel – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNCpf3ahezE1E19zGiQ0lpQ – has made it into “Top 20 Australian Travel Youtube Channels to Follow in 2019″!! Check it out here: https://blog.feedspot.com/australian_travel_youtube_channels/

Just short blog. Hope everyone else is having fun too.

Day 306 – 16th November 2018 – Adelaide

So very early in the morning my door creaked open and a hand slid through holding a phone that was playing “I like long build ups and disappointing drops”.  A very annoying song that is kind of catchy and gets stuck in your head.  It has been a long standing joke with Sam, my son, and so this was how he decided to wake me up at the crack of dawn.  Luckily he made up for it by getting me breakfast in bed (sorry for the crappy photo but it was the best I could do, and kind of cute that Franklin wanted in on it too).

Day 297 – 7th November 2018 – Darwin

Today’s highlight was a phone call from the air-conditioning mob to let us know that our van is booked in for this Friday WHOOP WHOOP!!!!!!!!  OMG, so excited!!!!!!  Luckily they only need it for the day, so we won’t be homeless for too long.  It does mean packing up the ‘house’ though and dropping it off on Friday at 7.30am then we can pick it up at 3pm.

We decided to head to the Casuarina sports bar for dinner in the evening to celebrate.

Day 290 – 31st October 2018 – Darwin

Happy Halloweeen.

I had a rest day from exercise today, by body was a little shocked by the sudden change in routine.  It is used to doing 7km over the course of a day in airconditioned comfort but not in an hour and outdoors.  Other than that it was just my usual routine.

I know that I say it at the end of every month, but it is going so quick.  Next month is November and I will be heading back to Adelaide for my Niece’s 18th birthday and I get to catch up with all my family and friends.  Getting very excited about it, I must admit.  We have been on the road since mid-January.  Time is weird how in some ways it feels like it has flown past, but it also feels like a lifetime ago that we were pulling out the driveway of the Christies Beach Caravan Park to start our big adventure.  So many kilometres and experiences since then! Now we are weeks away from returning home to Adelaide for Christmas.  Crazy.

Day 242 – 13th September 2018 – Darwin

I did my usual 8am to 1pm shift today.  After work I dropped Angry to pick up his car from getting some work done on it.  I then came home and began packing for our weekend away at Katherine Nitmiluk gorge, camping with Angry and Kat.  We are planning to leave after work on Friday and drive to Katherine.  This could be tricky as we are camping and will have to set up our tents in the dark.  But we want to make the most of the time that we have available this weekend.  So driving Friday night is the plan.
