Day 197 – 29th July 2018 – Darwin, Frogs in the ensuite

Lazy day for Col and I today.  We slept in, worked on the blog and videos and Col put up a new outside light that isn’t so bright as the van light.  He also picked one that you can switch to a yellow light to minimise the insects.  There actually hasn’t been too many insects up here other than the mosquitoes and midgies.  I seem to get bitten a fair bit and Col likes to tell me every day how he gets bitten but they just don’t react on him or cause him to itch.  It is only slightly annoying at this stage, I have about a dozen bites on the go at any one time, but that is manageable.  I am hoping they don’t get too much worse as the wet season build up starts, will see how it goes.

We do have a very cute little family of frogs living in our ensuite, they are tiny.  They make me laugh every time I walk in there at night.  They have their particular positions, the dad is on the roof and the mother and baby behind the cistern. I went to walk into the ensuite and caught the baby out and about.  He was sitting on the toilet seat, looking kind of guilty.  The Dad was hanging over the side of the conduit that he normally hides behind, looking very worried at what was going to happen.  I stood still and waited for the baby to climb up the wall and take his position behind the cistern with the Mum.  I LOVE THESE GUYS!  Who knew that frogs in your bathroom can make you so happy?  I might have to buy some for when we get home to Adelaide!  I will actually miss them when we leave.

  1. Finally had a chance to catch up on your blog for the last couple of weeks. You’ve certainly been keeping busy. Great news about Woolies job …. go the Fresh Food People- look after my friend!
Good to see that there’s finally been some fish caught and eaten too.
It appears you have really embraced the semi- retired life and made the shift from following the crap lifestyle programs on tv to following the life and times of the ensuite frog family ……. with your vast blog followers they could become the new Frogdasshians maybe !!!

    1. Thanks Tania!
Really yummy fish caught and eaten. Definitely embraced the semi retired life, although working way too much!
Ooooohhhhh I like it, the Frogdashians! I will keep you all posted with the life and times of the little ensuite frog family.

  2. Hey guys. Nice to be reading your blog again. We all missed it whilst away in Fiji. I have had many laughs catching up. Glad to hear you were successful with the Woolies job. Just goes to show that you never know where an opportunity will pop up! The Frogdashians are gorgeous! I had a few encounters with frogs in Fiji and they were great. I went into a change room in Suva, and dropped my bag on the head of one poor little guy. He didnt even move (I am not sure if he was concussed – the bag was heavy). The shop keepers just giggled. I hope you get the chance to camp now your hours are a little easier. Dad is like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting til the day he flys out! Wish we could all come!

    1. Thanks Sam, we missed you guys too! Hope you had an awesome trip, the photos looked amazing!

The frogs are seriously gorgeous and have such personalities. I will miss them so much when it is time to come home. I wonder if they can use social media for face time calls :)
Oh that poor little frog in Suva, that would have been hilarious though!
