Day 272 – 13th October 2018 – Darwin

Today was a bit of a productive day.  Did the typical cleaning and washing and we headed to Casuarina shopping centre to get Col’s new work pants taken up (which cost more than the pants did hahahaha).  We had a late breakfast there and did a bit of shopping.  Did a bit of blogging and Col did his BAS. Day 271 – 12th October 2018 – Darwin

I had my short shift today so got a sleep in and didn’t have to start until 8am today, yay.  Col had a work dinner on tonight so I organised with Son my sister and Bec my sister-in-law, to get online and play ‘Overcooked 2’.  I totally love this game on the Play Station and was excited to get to play it with them.   Ebonie my niece joined in too.  It was a fun night, we had a conference call going as Son and I are not quite proper gamers with bluetooth headsets…. yet.  But I am now thinking of making this investment.  So there was a lot of yelling, bumping into each other, throwing and burning food and people randomly dropping off the edge of the playing area.  We did pretty well for our first attempt.  The second one is definitely much harder than the first.  Looking forward to more ‘Overcooked’ sessions!  Please let me know if you are a fellow PS Overcooked fan, as I would be keen to play!

Day 270 – 11th October 2018 – Darwin

Thurs, working with a Rep all day to complete a couple of big Planograms.  Rushed around and did the perishable markdowns as quickly as I could but the battery went flat on the printer in the middle of it…. sigh.  So ran upstairs but no-one was in the office, so ran to the Deli and found another printer so I could keep going.  No-one had done the markdowns while I was doing the stocktake so there were a huge number to get through as well.   Continue reading “Day 270 – 11th October 2018 – Darwin”

Day 269 – 10th October 2018 – Darwin

Today was stocktake day in Darwin City store, my store, so another 6am start.  My body was pretty sore from the previous day, so definitely feeling it today.  We are meant to finish at 2pm, but we were still working until 3.3opm.  It was a long day indeed.  I might have felt like crying at 3pm when we were still going, but that is unconfirmed and you can’t prove it. Day 268 – 9th October 2018 – Darwin

Another 5am start for me today and the first day of heading to a different store to assist with stocktake.  Today was at Karama which is only just around the corner form me, so that was nice.  It took less than 15 minutes to drive there, and also nice to not have to pay for parking in the ‘burbs’.  But when I got there the store was shut, where Darwin City opens at 6am.  Interesting….. Day 267 – 8th October 2018 – Darwin

So today was meant to be the first of the Stocktake days for me.  I double checked this on Friday when I finished work that I needed to be at Darwin City at 6am Monday morning.  So I woke up at 5am and got ready.  It is very dark at 5am I must say.  Also tricky living in a van and trying not to be too noisy or turn on lights.  Strangely I am not finding it too difficult getting up early these days, I usually start at 7am so wake up at 6am.  I thought I would really struggle at 5am but it wasn’t too traumatic.   Continue reading “Day 267 – 8th October 2018 – Darwin”

Day 266 – 7th October 2018 – Darwin

Col spent the day doing videos and I caught up on the blog.  I at least have drafts of every day, just have to tidy them up and include some pics.

Lenny lives out of town and had to come into Darwin today for work, so he popped in after his shift finished to say Hi.  He is thinking about maybe buying Col’s old drone so they were playing around with that.

The baby Curlew is growing up fast.  Apparently they are born pretty much independent and can eat the same food as the adult Curlews very quickly.  They stay with their parents for a while but can pretty much look after themselves from a very young age.  The parents still carefully protect the chicks.  It is fun to watch them.  Who needs TV :)  Actually we do, we still love TV!

Day 265 – 6th October 2018 – Darwin

We headed back to the Beachfront hotel this morning to pick up Col’s car and thought that we would stay there for breakfast.  They do a cooked breakfast for two which sounded pretty amazing so we got that.  Hooley Dooley that thing was massive!!  I think it could have comfortably fed 4 people.  So we ate what we could but hardly made a dent in it and we both  felt bad sending it back looking relatively untouched.  It was awesome though.  They have a smoking room there (for smoking meats, not cigarettes) and their meat is beautiful.  Last night they served a very tender slow cooked briskett and Beef Ribs that were amazing, and on the breakfast platter was their own smoked bacon and smokey beans.  So good.

We did a few errands and then Col fixed up the shade cloth around the van and it looks great.  He did a great job.

Just a quiet night in for us tonight.

Day 264 – 5th October 2018 – Darwin

Col had a work function on tonight at the Beachfront hotel at Nightcliff.  This is a great pub if you are ever in Darwin.  We found out that one of the people Col works with is a part owner in this hotel.  I was meant to finish work at 3pm but ended up working through till 5pm to try and get another Planogram done.  I have been asked to participate in stock take next week which means starting at 6am (ewwwww) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but we should finish around 1pm or 2pm.  I will also be going to some other Woolworths shops to assist them next week and the week after, so that should be interesting.  Because of this I will have limited time to catch up on the Planograms.  It is like trying to hold sand, you think you are getting close to getting your head above water but then it slips from your reach again. Day 263 – 4th October 2018 – Darwin

Worked my short shift today – yay.

I forgot to mention that the night we went out to dinner on the 26th September with Kat and Angry to Mitchell Street, when we got there I noticed a little frog clinging to the side of my car when I got out.  I inspected closer and felt pretty confident he was an escapee from the Caravan Park and I was worried that he was about to go off and have city adventures and get lost.  But there wasn’t too much I could do about it.   Continue reading “Day 263 – 4th October 2018 – Darwin”
