Day 246 – 17th September 2018 – Darwin

I started coming down with a cold/flu on Sunday and was feeling pretty lousy at work today.  We are really busy at the moment and I was asked to work full time again for a few weeks :(  I just can’t get a chance to do part time.  Anyway, I have to work Tuesday, Thurs, Fri and Sat this week.  Then Mon to Friday next week.

Hopefully I can kick this bug.

Day 252 – 23rd September 2018 – Darwin

Today I have finally started feeling a little better so I have now turned the corner.  I managed to be a bit more productive today with washing and cleaning, nothing too amazing but at least I am up and about again.

The baby Curlews popped by again today.  I just want to pick one up and cuddle it.  Pretty sure they wouldn’t appreciate it and nor would the parents, but OMG are they cute!!!!

Day 250 – 21st September 2018 – Darwin

Still feeling lousy so just rested today.

Col got home from work and went to kiss me, I was sitting in the van at the table and he didn’t see the corner of the overhead cupboard and smacked his head straight into it with some force.  This was the result :( Continue reading “Day 250 – 21st September 2018 – Darwin”

Day 245 – 16th September 2018 – Darwin, Leliyn (Edith) Falls

Col and I cooked breakfast on Sunday morning and we recreated an amazing dish I had at ‘The Cool Spot’ previously.  Toasted sourdough bread bruschetta with an egg on top and cooked ham off the bone on the side.  Delicious!  If you are at the Cool Spot, definitely order this one.

Day 244 – 15th September 2018 – Darwin, Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge

Kat and Angry don’t like kyaking, so they booked themselves onto a boat Tour down the Katherine Nitmiluk Gorge and had to be on the boat at 9am.  So Col and I had a bit of a lay in and a really relaxing morning.  Just what we needed after the busy week and rush to get here. Day 243 – 14th September 2018 – Darwin, Katherine Nitmiluk Gorge

I had to work from 7am to 3pm today and then rush home to finish the packing.  Angry kindly offered to pick Col up after work and the plan was for me to meet them all at Angry’s house. Continue reading “Day 243 – 14th September 2018 – Darwin, Katherine Nitmiluk Gorge”

Day 242 – 13th September 2018 – Darwin

I did my usual 8am to 1pm shift today.  After work I dropped Angry to pick up his car from getting some work done on it.  I then came home and began packing for our weekend away at Katherine Nitmiluk gorge, camping with Angry and Kat.  We are planning to leave after work on Friday and drive to Katherine.  This could be tricky as we are camping and will have to set up our tents in the dark.  But we want to make the most of the time that we have available this weekend.  So driving Friday night is the plan.

Day 240 – 11th September 2018 – Darwin

I didn’t have to work today so I had a chance to catch up on some blogs and do the normal potter around the van stuff.  A beautiful and relaxing day.

Both Col and I noticed a small change in the weather at the end of August and the humidity has started to slowly increase, there are also more clouds in the sky too.  It was a subtle but noticeable change.  We have dragged out the big fan now so we can sleep, as the small USB fans are no longer cutting it.  We have also notice a sudden increase in the number of mosquitoes, midgies and flies hanging around and also the number of Cane Toads making an appearance.   We didn’t see any Cane Toads for the first couple of months and we have seen at least three in the past week.  We have been told that an effective way of killing Cane Toads is to spray them with a mix of Dettol and water!  Col tried it on one of them but not sure if it worked or not as he hopped away pretty quickly.

The build up has begun….. [insert dramatic music here]
