Day 45 – 27th February 2018 – Walpole

We started the day with this beautiful breakfast view!  Not a bad way to start the day.

We then went for a bit of a drive around and visited the Giant Tingle Tree on the Hilltop Road drive.   We couldn’t get a photo of the biggest tree as the light was wrong and the photos we did get just didn’t do it justice.  But there were plenty of other amazing trees to see.

It is amazing that the trees are burnt out and hollow and yet still continue to grow.  And they are enormous!

I saw this plant scattered around the forest and the new growth looked just like a flower.

After that we drove to the nearby Circular Pool that joins the Frankland River.  The water cascades among the rocks and it was a very beautiful and tranquil spot that was worth visiting.  Apparently there is a spectacular waterfall in winter.

Col has finished another video of the recovery he did using the winch to help Finn and Louis get their bogged car out of the sand.

  1. Just wondering how you are deciding where to stop with all the magnificent spots to choose from. Is it word of mouth with people you are meeting along the way or researching on Google or other ?

    1. We picked up a great little free book from the Cape Le Grand mobile Cafe on the beach at Lucky Bay, the Lucky Bean. It is called ‘Beautiful South’ and is a Tourist and Accommodation guide. It has so much fantastic information, like accommodation, tourist attractions, closest hospital, local radio station. It also shows suggested route planers between towns and heaps more fantastic, helpful info. They want you to pass on your book to another traveler and there is a page in the middle of it where you can write your name, hometown, where you got the book and dates traveled. Such a great idea and such a great little book!! You can go to http://www.cookstours.com.au for more info.

    1. We have had people jump in and help with the boat launches! What goes around comes around I reckon. That is the great thing when you are travelling, people are generally willing to give a hand if you need it. It is a nice part of the culture. x

  2. Not all heroes wear capes!!! Loving all the pictures, helps give an idea of what you guys are getting to experience xxx

    1. Thanks Jo :)
You can tell that you are a tea leaf reader!! I had to go back to the photo to find the old man face in the tree. xx
