Day 9 – 22nd January 2018 – Streaky Bay

Just a chill out laundry day today. Hanging laundry out in gale force winds is an interesting experience let me tell you, ha ha.   That probably would have made a funny video had we thought of it.

Also had a tech day and hung out in the recreational room updating the blog and Col was uploading the video footage as Jake Cunningham has kindly offered his exceptional media skills to help edit the films.

Interesting question Tania about whether I think the Islands Caravan Park would be a good spot for our camping Crew. It is a beautiful park and feels like a bit of luxury after roughing it with the free camping. It is also a great spot if you are into fishing. I feel like it might be too nice for the sort of camping we like, if that makes sense?  We are heading into the town tomorrow so will let you know my thoughts from a Crew perspective after that. If we are honest…. The Crew will have fun wherever we go. But campfires are a big part of our trips and they are restricted in caravan parks. Are you really even camping if you don’t have a campfire??  Here are some photos of the park that I took.  Let me know your thoughts.

  1. Amenities look amazing – agree looks like a nice park for the “glampers” (such as Col) we would love something more remote … off the beaten track if you get a chance to scout. Admiring the set up guys. Kris your chair looks sooooo comfortable… perfect for star gazing and sipping red wine !!

    1. specifically in Streaky Bay?
Yes the chair is awesome!! Thanks for your help to purchase it. I still remember practicing running around the carpark with it, trying to make it look light and easy to carry – hahahaha. x

    1. Ok, so we went scouting today. There was a really cool place called Walkers Rock Campsite about 10km out of Elliston on your way to Steaky Bay. At a guess it is about an hour out of Streaky. It is right next to a beach, there are toilets and a cold water shower and looks like you can have fires there (with consideration to fire danger season of course Nige!). It is $10 a night per vehicle. Will send you some pics of the spot – it looked great.

  2. Hi Kris & Col, loving the blog & hearing about the adventures so far & very envious, photos are great. Yep need to visit all those places so far ….just had an amenity aahhh moment there posh!!!

    1. Really glad you are enjoying the blog Karen, good to know!
I know right! How posh are the toilets. Don’t usually take photos of the bathrooms, but that was impressive, haha. xx

  3. Thanks for scouting possible camp spot. The photos around Elliston (travelblog 26th Jan) backup your comments on the beautiful scenery. Definitely worth considering for future group trip
