Denver suggested that we could set up in the Receiving Room to work on the blog and videos, so Col and I came up to the Room near the homestead to base ourselves today. It was funny because we had jumpers on this morning and commenting on how chilly it was. We later worked out it was a 30 degree day, haha. We have gotten used to the 40 degree days and this feels quite cool.
We are then able to help out by answering the phone when people call to book in, and there are also ceiling fans in the room, so it is a little cooler than the annex. Not that we need cooler today, but still the air circulation is nice. The phone has been ringing pretty regularly so activity has begun with bookings in the coming months.
While being in the reciving room, I have worked out that the signal strength is slightly better and I can update the blog! So it is good to know that we are able to continue with the updates rather than the weekly binge.
We noticed a dust storm on the horizon today and the annex was taking a bit of a hammering with the wind. We were a bit on edge waiting for it to hit, but it just settled down and blew over in the end.
Jen came over to ask if Col could give her and Indya a hand drilling some artwork they had made onto the Giralia Bay sign out the front of the station. Jen and Indya are very creative and talented people! They have been working on jazzing up the man in the fishing boat at the entrance to Giralia Station Stay. They have been collecting drift wood and painting this to look like coral, and drawing fish and other marine creatures on tin, cutting these out and painting them to go under the boat. Indya drew the Turtle and a Wobbegong shark freestyle and Jen drew the fish. They then painted and varnished them, though Indya still has to paint the spots on the Wobbegong. So we jumped in the cars and drove out to the sign.
Indya has put some fairy lights on the sign so it lights up and attracts some attention at night as well.
Col got to drive the truck back to the station which he was pretty happy about. He said it was like driving his old Land Rover.
The night time sign looks fantastic. Love it. Well done to the “Artists in Residence” (and of course the helpers!) xxx
Thanks Sam, I passed on your comments to Jen and Indya xx
Sooo pretty day and night mbut you know me love the fairy lights the best .fantastic entry.
Yes I thought you would appreciate the fairy lights Jo xx
Fantastic artwork. The girls should hold kids club (craft sessions) for travelers. Beautiful shells ..coral driftwood. Great souvenirs to take home and would keep kids busy while the adults do happy hour
I totally agree with you and did suggest it to Indya, will also share it with Jen.
