Day 65 – 19th March 2018 – Denmark

Sitting outside the van today, we could hear the surf crashing onto the shore.  Love that sound.  So we thought we would make the most of the half decent weather and go for a bike ride to explore.  We were riding on the bike track but couldn’t get a good look at the Inlet initially as it was protected from view by some bushes, as we came through the other side we were both taken aback by the beauty.  I don’t think I have seen clearer water or water so blue.  It almost looked like someone had put dye in it.  The photos never do it justice.

As we neared the mouth of the inlet where it meets Ocean Beach, there were some kids swinging off a rope in a tree and landing in the River.  Looked like a fantastic spot to swim.

We rode further around to Ocean Beach, out the front of the Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club.  Col is keen to take the Boogie board out on Wednesday when we are expecting the first really warm day.

We turned around at this point and headed back the way we came and followed Ocean Beach Road back towards the town of Denmark.  Col managed to find the boat ramp, it is like he has an over developed sense of where boat ramps might be.  Either that or he saw the sign earlier and planned to go and check it out.  The river was filled with Swans which added to the beauty.

You might have noticed that we are starting a Camping Recipes section on the Travel Blog, so if you have any great camping recipes that you would like to contribute, then please let me know.  We are definitely missing cooking in the Dutch Oven on the campfire this trip.  I hope there will be some opportunity for that.

  1. I was actually thinking u could do the pilaf On a campfire . Put some coals on the lid have an oyster sitting on top warming through… ?
U will have to go back for a swim .
    Enjoy!

    1. Masterchef is calling you Karen! Hmmmm we might have to try your suggestion and let you know how it goes. That’s when we can finally cook on the fire again. I would also like to try your banana in alfoil idea too, can you remind me what you do?

  2. Absolutely beautiful place Denmark with so much to see and do. You’ve showcased a great holiday for people travelling from Adelaide to WA Denmark for even a short holiday. A 1/4 lap maybe !!
